In 1961, the IHC Group designed and built their first CALM buoy system.

In 1969, Single Buoy Moorings Inc. was established and by now have supplied over 80% of SPMs installed worldwide. In addition, SBM has been involved in a combined total of over eighty FPSO and FSO projects of varying scopes from the supply of Turret Mooring Systems for FPSOs/FSOs to the turnkey FPSO/FSO supply.
